Mrs. Willey Dies; Rites Tomorrow
Mrs. Charles Willey, 58, longtime resident of Estherville and a former teacher in Estherville schools, died last night at 10 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Loren Moklestad. Mrs. Willey died of cancer. She had been in ill health for approximately a year and had been seriously ill since May.Mrs. Willey (Neva Linn) was born in Wichita, Kans., March 31, 1894, the daughter of Eva and George Linn. She was a graduate of Cherokee, Okla., high school and Northwestern State Teachers College at Alva, Okla. She taught in rural schools in Oklahoma, in the Cherokee, Okla. Schools and one year at Lincoln school in Estherville.
Mrs. Willey came to Estherville in 1916 and was married July 31, 1917, to Charles Willey in Des Moines. The Willeys lived in Estherville until 1921 and then moved to Sibley where they lived from 1921 to 1932. The family moved back to Estherville in 1932 and Mrs. Willey has lived here since.
She attended the Methodist church.
Mrs. Willey is survived by three daughters, Mrs. R.J. (Jane) Nelson of Ladysmith, Wisc., Mrs. Hoyt (Ruth) Luithly and Mrs. Loren (Joyce) Moklestad of Estherville, seven grandchildren, Margaret, John and Mark Nelson, Billy and Paul Luithly and Thomas and Lorenne Moklestad; and her mother, Mrs. N.S. Fox of Cherokee, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband who died May 1, 1943.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at the Sternborg Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. H.H. Dill of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Eastside cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 15, 1952)
