Estherville – Services for Mrs. Leon (Bess) Blake, 87, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1984 at her home.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Thursday and at the church one hour prior to services on Friday.

Bess Moore was born Jan. 25, 1896 at Rock Island, Ill., the daughter of William and Altheda Moore. She graduated from Rock Island High School and Indiana State University at Terre Haute. She worked in a doctor’s office in Terre Haute after college. On Nov. 61, 1913 she was united in marriage with Leon C. Blake at Terre Haute; the couple moved to Estherville in 1920 where she has lived since. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Blake is survived by her husband, Leon, Estherville and one sister, Mrs. Lillian Sayless [Scales], Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and two brothers.
