Mrs. George West Dies of Heart Attack
Mrs. George H. West, 75, died suddenly at 8:15 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family hospital of a heart attack. She was taken to the hospital yesterday morning after being somewhat ill for two weeks.Mrs. West was born Dec. 10, 1876, in County Fermanagh, Ireland. She came with her family to Wisconsin when she was about five years old. She had lived in the Estherville community for about 55 years.
The former Anna Maniece, she married George H. West on Jan. 1, 1908, in Estherville. The couple farmed east of town until 1947 when they moved to 321 North 12th street. She was a member of the Methodist church and for many years a member of the Center Country club.
Surviving her death are her husband; four children, Mrs. Irv (Margaret) Wierson of Story City; Elizabeth, a librarian in Los Alamos, N.M., who is flying home; Kenneth of rural Estherville and Mrs. Lewis (Florence) Lemaster of Ringsted; a brother and sister, Margaret and Ed J. Maniece; and six grandchildren.

Service for Mrs. West
Funeral services were held yesterday at the Sandin funeral home at 1:30 p.m. and at the Methodist church at 2:00 p.m. for Mrs. George West, who died suddenly at Holy Family hospital Monday evening. The Rev. James Warren of Ringsted was in charge of the prayer service at the Sandin chapel and Dr. H. Hughes Dill was pastor in charge at the church service. Mrs. W.W. Ferguson and Mrs. Roy Danielson sang “Beyond the Sunset” and Mrs. James Warren sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Out of town friends and relatives who came for the service were Miss Elizabeth West of Los Alamos, N.M.; Mr. and Mrs. Irving Wierson of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. Robert West of Truman, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. George R. West of Bagley; Mrs. Lowell Temple of Grimes; Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Bemis of Spirit Lake; William H. Larson, Mrs. Boyd Michaelson and Mrs. Earl Clayberg, all of Story City, and Mr. and Mrs. Claire Nelson of Dickens. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 18, 1952)
