Mrs. Wertz’s Rites Held
Estherville – Mrs. Edna Wertz, 67, Estherville, passed away Friday [November 15, 1974] morning at a Worthington, Minn. hospital.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday at the Henry Funeral Chapel, Estherville with the Rev. Neal Armstrong of the Gruver Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery, Estherville.

Mrs. Wertz was born March 12, 1907 in Emmet County to Andrew Brown and Gertrude McQueen Brown and received her education in rural and Estherville schools.

She was married to Willis R. Wertz Oct. 10, 1925 at Jackson, Minn. and had lived in Emmet County all her life. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Wertz in survived by three daughters, Mrs. Russell (Bernadine) Haar, Estherville, Mrs. Edwin (Beverly) Schendel, Huron Lake, Minn. and Mrs. Bill (Barbara) Hubbard, Sioux Falls, S.D.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Wallace and Chester, Estherville; five sisters, Mrs. Harvey Ratten, Estherville, Mrs. Roy Pennington, Joliet, Ill., Mrs. Vernon Steele, Estherville, Mrs. Jack Whaley and Mrs. George Vavra both of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild and one brother.

Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, was in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 18, 1974)
