Funeral services for Martha Juhl were held on Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville, Iowa. Reverend Mark Gabbard officiated the services and Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Homes were in charge of the arrangements.

Casketbearers were Keith Rosburg, Rick Rosburg, Jay Rosburg, Gary Dallmann, Don Juhl and Kenny Beck.

Martha Helen Wilhelms, the daughter of Herman W. and Maria (Tapps) Wilhelms, was bon January 3, 1915, in Richards, Iowa, and passed away Friday, October 19, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 86 years, nine months and 16 days.

Martha moved with her parents and sister, Evalyn at the age of three years to the Mitchell, South Dakota area. She began her education in the country schools near Mitchell. Martha completed her education by graduating from Mitchell High School in May of 1933.

In March of 1934, she moved back to Iowa with her parents and sister. On October 12, 1935 she was united in marriage to Lawrence P. Juhl at the Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville. To the union one daughter, Darlene, was born. Martha was employed at the F.W. Woolworth Store in Estherville for many years. She also worked for Joyce Lumber Company and Fuller Lumber Company in Estherville and the Graettinger Building Centers for many more years. Lawrence died December 14, 1989. She enjoyed music, especially playing organ by ear, playing solitare, corresponding and writing letters to her family and friends. She especially enjoyed working with the public.

Martha was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville, where she served as a Deacon from 1980 through 1986. She also belonged to the Major Agers in the church.

Martha is survived by one daughter, Darlene Paulson, Estherville; one grandson, Greg Paulson of Graettinger; brother-in-law, Dale C. Juhl and his wife, Fannie of Estherville; two sisters-in-law, Florence Hoffmeyer of Prineville, Oregon; Maxine and her husband, Bill of Escondido, California; and many nieces and nephews.

She has been preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law Orland Paulson who died March 20, 1973; her parents, sister, Evalyn Wells who died October 1, 2001.

Interment was held at the East Side Cemetery in Estherville, Iowa. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, October 24, 2001)
