Wells Funeral Rites Planned Here Wednesday
Funeral for Alfred Jay Wells, 60, of Estherville, will be held Wednesday at the United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating.

Wells die Sunday [June 21, 1970] morning at his home in Estherville following a stroke.

He was born June 19, 1910, in Wessington, S.D., to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wells. On Nov. 30, 1934, he was married to Evalyn Wilhelms at Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple farmed in Emmet County until 1960. He was employed by the Wallingford Co-op Elevator in Wallingford from 1960-1969.

Wells was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville.

Survivors include his wife, Evalyn; two sons. Elmer Wells, Estherville, and Donald Wells, Brigg; and one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Betty) Rosburg, Estherville; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Wells, Ayrshire, Roy Wells and Marvin Wells, Tenino, Wash.; and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Pulcifer, Bellflower, Calif., and Mrs. Helen Coy, Tenino, Wash.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Rites will be in the United Methodist Church due to construction work on the First Presbyterian Church.

Friends may call anytime on Tuesday at Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Bearers will be Amos Egeland, Thor Nielsen, Chester Anderson, Norman Mickleson, William Berven and August Andreson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 22, 1970)
