William Watson
Estherville – Services for William Adam [Adams] Watson, 49, Estherville will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. at the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tom Balm of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Thursday, July 21, 1983 at his home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today (Friday) and until time of services Saturday.

Watson was born April 18, 1934 at Newton, the son of William P. and Mercy (Adams) Watson. He attended school in Grinnell and Estherville, graduating from Estherville High School in 1953. On Aug. 2, 1934 he was married to Joanne Johnson at Estherville. He worked with his father in the O.K. Tire Shop until his father’s retirement when he took over the management of this shop himself. He was a member of the National Guard; International Order of Odd Fellows and the Estherville Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Mercy Watson, Estherville; one son, William A. Watson, Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.; three daughters: Wanda Watson, Mankato, Minn., Laura, Mrs. Lee Witt, Glendale, Ariz., Mary Joe, Mrs. Kevin Bohmbach, L’Lanse, Wis.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Irene) Immel, Charles City and Mrs. Oakly (Doris) Poortinga, Reasonor, Ia.

He was preceded in death by his father. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 22, 1983)
