Estherville – Services for Mercy Mallory Watson, 95, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. David Wendel officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Friday at the Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. on Sunday.

She was born August 21, 1895 [per census & SS Death index, July] at Grinnell, the daughter of Elizabeth and Charles Adams. She attended Maple Grove School in Grinnell. On September 1, 1915 she was united in marriage with William P. Watson in Des Moines. The couple lived in Grinnell and Newton, Iowa before moving to Estherville in 1941. Mr. Watson died in October, 1981.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, Estherville, Degree of Honor, Rebecca’s and Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Rhoda Irene) Immel of Charles City, Iowa, and Mrs. Oakley (Doris Alma) Poortinga of Reasnor, Iowa, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, William Jr., seven brothers and sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 8, 1990)
