Francis H. Ware
Funeral services for Francis Ware of Wallingford were held Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Estherville. The Reverend Larry Willey officiated.Burial was in the East Side Cemetery, Estherville, IA. The Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville, IA, was in charge of arrangements.
Casketbearers were Cynthia and Paul Osher, Scott Ware, Holly Ware, Aaron Ware, Nikki Ware, Jennie Ware, Jason Ware and Michael Ware.
Francis H. Ware, the son of Ernest and Nellie (Lowman) Ware, was born February 1, 1915, in Emmetsburg, IA, and died on Sunday, February 28, 1999, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville at the age of 84.
Francis received his education in the Graettinger schools, graduating from Graettinger High School. He served in the Civil Conservation Corps (C.C.C.).
On September 21, 1935, Francis was united in marriage to Anna K. Reimers at Yankton, South Dakota. They farmed in the Rodman and Fenton, Iowa area. They also lived in the Terril and Graettinger, Iowa area. Francis owned the East Side Café in Graettinger. He later was employed by the Tobin Packing Plant and later John Morrell and Company in Estherville for twenty-seven years. They moved to Estherville in 1951 and after his retirement they lived in the Superior, Iowa area and in Shore Acres on the north side of Big Spirit Lake. They later moved to Wallingford, Iowa. Francis also worked security during the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa.
Francis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, raising horses, woodcrafts and stained glass projects.
Francis is survived by his wife, Anna Ware of Estherville, IA; two sons, Wayne E. Ware, Liberty, MO and Rick O. Ware and his wife, Kathy, Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren, Cynthia Osher and her husband, Paul, Scott Ware, Holly Ware, Aaron Ware, Nikki Ware, Jenni Ware, Jason Ware and Michael Ware; four great-grandchildren, Jon Osher, Elizabeth Osher, Timothy Ware, Rebecca Ware; one daughter-in-law, Lois Ware Stough, Estherville, IA; and two sisters, Iris Holland, Algona, IA and Isle Jordan, San Diego, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, Francis J. Ware and Timothy F. Ware, and one brother, Byron Ware. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, March 10, 1999)
