Funeral services for Kenneth Jay Trunnell, 28, of Storm Lake formerly of Milford were held Nov. 4, 1980 at the Milford Baptist Church of Milford with the Rev. Tom Weitzel and Rev. Paul Smith officiating the 1 p.m. service.Vocalist was Mrs. Ihea Wilson with the hymn “Fly Away” and organist Mrs. Lynne Koelling.
Pallbearers were Don Siefkin, Greg Studer, Rod Marlow, John Gilmore, Ronald Wemark and Harvey DeGraw.
Interment in East Side Cemetery in Estherville, Ia.
Kenneth Jay Trunnell was born to Jay and Marilyn Trunnell at Estherville, Ia., on June 3, 1952. He attended school at Hartley, Estherville, Spencer and graduated from Milford in 1971. He attended Northwest Iowa Tech School in Sheldon for two years.
On April 8, 1976, he was united in marriage to Cynthia J. Switzer at Spirit Lake, Ia., and to this union two children were born. They include Robert Jaythan Vernon, Michele Elizabeth and one stepdaughter Marcey Jo.
Kenneth worked at Ryans Musicland in Storm Lake from 1977 until 1980. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved ships, his music and friends.
On Oct. 31, 1980, Kenneth passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital at Iowa City, Ia.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy and three children of Storm Lake, his mother and stepfather Bill and Marilyn Fritz of Arnolds Park and a sister Katherine Collins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Trunnell, grandparents Elsie Von Nee and Edward Trunnell and Elizabeth and Ralph Lough.
Mr. Trunnell was a cousin of Mrs. Elbert Clark of Lake Park. (Lake Park News, Lake Park, IA, November 13, 1980)
