Funeral services for Marilyn Jean Lough Fritz, 51, of Arnolds Park were held Thursday, Aug. 13, 1981, at 1:30 p.m. at the Milford Baptist Church with Pastor Norman Erickson officiating. Vocalist was Mrs. Leah Wilson with the Hymns “Fly, Fly, Away” and “In the Garden.” Organist was Mrs. Lynne Koelling.

Pallbearers were Ron Wemark, Marvin Gamble, Cam Welch, Floyd Van Dee, Ben Jensen and Charles Goodell. Mrs. Ike Zeigler and Mrs. Floyd Van Dee were in charge of flowers.

Interment was in East Side Cemetery in Estherville. Leyson Funeral Home of Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn Jean Lough Fritz was born to Ralph and Elizabeth Lough at Indianola, Ia., on Dec. 7, 1929. She attended St. Paul and Estherville, Ia., schools, graduating in 1947. In 1947, Marilyn was united in marriage to James B. Trunnell and to this union three children were born, Elizabeth, Katherine and Kenneth. James preceded her in death in 1964. On July 13, 1967, at Lakefield, Minn., Marilyn was united in marriage to William A. Fritz and they were happily married for 14 years.

Marilyn was employed by the Dickinson County Care Facility as Activity Director. She had previously worked for Berkley and Co. at Spirit Lake. Her childhood was spent in St. Paul, Minn. until her family moved to Estherville.

Her hobbies were gardening, painting, crocheting, house plant and flowers and fishing. Her main interests were that of the happiness of her family and friends.

On Aug. 10, 1981, Marilyn passed away at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake. She is survived by her husband, William; her daughter, Katherine Collins; a son and daughter-in-law, David Collins and Cindy Trunnell; five grandchildren, Kerith and Ryan Collins, Marcey Culbertson, Robert and Michele Trunnell, all of the lakes area.

Preceding her in death were her mother and father, her first husband, James B. Trunnell, one son, Kenneth Trunnell, and a daughter, Elizabeth. (Milford Mail and Terril Record, Milford, IA, August 20, 1981)
