Mrs. Esther Trumble, wife of Geo. W. [S.] Trumble, died at her home in this place on Friday, Jan. 29th, of Paralysis. She had been in declining health for some months and her death was not unexpected. Funeral services were held Sunday from the M.E. church, the interment taking place at the East Hill [Side] cemetery. The subject of this sketch was born April 27, 1813, at North Hero, Vt., her maiden name being Esther A. [Avilla] Buck. In May 1839 she was joined in marriage to George W. Tumble. They moved to Emmet Co. in the spring of 1867 where they have since resided. Mrs. Trumbe leaves a husband in advanced years and two children to mourn her taking away, besides hosts of warm friends. She had been a member of the M.E. church 63 years, and was a most faithful and patient worker in the cause of Christ. In Mrs. Trumble’s death the community has lost a noble woman. Died – In Estherville on Friday, January 29th, 1892, Mrs. A.B. Trumble, beloved wife of G.S. Trumble, of paralysis and al grippe.
Mrs. Trumble was 78 years, 9 months and two days old. She had resided in Estherville with her husband for twenty-four years last April. Her native state was Vermont. She has enjoyed fifty-three years of married life, and during all of these years Mr. Trumble informs us that not an angry word passed between them. Two children, Mr. H.W. Trumble and Mrs. C.E. Camfield, are left to share the great sorrow with the aged and nearly heart broken husband, to whom the deep sympathy of this entire community goes out in this sad hour. Mrs. Trumble was a lady of excellent character, a member of the Methodist church and during her long sickness of nearly five years she bore all her suffering patiently and heroically and won the esteem and respect of all who knew her. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Woodford preaching the sermon that was full of comfort and complimentary to the life of the deceased. The interment was made in the east side cemetery. (February 4, 1892)
