Old Settler Dead
Geo. S. Trumble Passed Away Monday at St. James, Minnesota
Moved to Emmet county in 1867
Funeral Held Yesterday Afternoon at St. James and Estherville – Burial made here.
Geo. S. Trumble, one of the early settlers of Emmet county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.
E. Camfield, in St. James, Minnesota, Monday. Funeral services were held at the home in St. James yesterday, and at the M.E. Church at this place at 4:30 yesterday afternoon. The Methodist minister at St. James conducted the services at that place and Rev. Wasser at this place. He had been a member of the M.E. church for 75 years. The remains were buried by the side of his wife at this place.

George S. Trumble was born in North Hero, Grand Isle county, Vermont, July 8, 1814. When three years of age he with his parents moved to Franklin county, New York, and from thence to St. Lawrence county, New York. He was married to Esther A. Buck, May 26, 1830 [39?] To their union two children were born, H.W. Trumble of Sherburn, Minn., and Mrs. C.E. Camfield of St. James, Minn. In the years 1867 they moved to Emmet county, Iowa. His wife died at Estherville, January 27, 1892. He moved to St. James, Minn. in the summer of 1893 and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Camfield, where he resided until the day of his death.

Mr. Trumble was a good citizen and a thorough Christian. He is favorably remembered by the older settlers of the county. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 18, 1909)

Geo. S. Trumble, one of the first settlers of Emmet county died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. E. Camfield at St. James, Minnesota last Friday, August 16th at the ripe old age of 95 years, 1 month and 8 days.

The funeral was held from his late residence Tuesday afternoon conducted by the pastor of the Methodist church of which organization he had been a member of about 75 years. The body was taken to Estherville and laid to rest by the side of his wife in the east side cemetery.

George S. Trumble was born in North Hero, Grand Isle County, Vermont, July 8th, 1814, and died in St. James, Minnesota August 16, 1909.
