Retired County Farmer Died at Age of 69
Funeral services were held for Amos Elmore Tomlinson, retired Emmet county farmer, Oct. 24 at the First Methodist church, the Rev. H. Hughes Dill officiating. Interment was in the Eastside cemetery with Masonic rites held at the graveside.

Mr. Tomlinson was born Aug. 30, 1883, near Star City, Ind., the son of Henry and Martha Tomlinson. At the age of 17 he went to Peoria, Ill., where he lived for several years.

He married Leola Harding Lough on May 1, 1919, and the following year they moved to a farm west of Ringsted where they resided for 24 years. In 1944 they retired and moved to their present home in Estherville. He died Oct. 21 at Holy Family hospital after a short illness.

Surviving his death are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Wade of Canton, Ill., Mrs. Wilbur Clouse and Mrs. Jerry Summers of Estherville; three sons, Edwin Tomlinson and Lyle Lough of Estherville and Clayton Lough of Kermit, Texas. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren; a brother, William Tomlinson of Star City, Ind.; several nieces and nephews.

Pall bearers were Axel Peterson of Estherville, Aaron Garrelts, George Nielson, Henry Thiel, Harvey Sorenson and Alvin Poppinga of Graettinger, Harry Jensen and Henry Jensen of Ringsted. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 5, 1952)
