Fern Tirevold, 57, Dies; Rites Are Conducted
Funeral services for Fern Elizabeth Tirevold, 57, rural Estherville, were scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. today in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gruver. She died at 8:20 p.m. Friday while en route to Holy Family Hospital by car. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

She was born June 2, 1912, in DeKalb County, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Tirevold. She was educated in Emmet County schools after moving to the county as a child with her parents. She worked in the telephone office at Armstrong for a number of years. For the past 25 years she has been housekeeper for August Andresen, rural Estherville.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gruver, and was active in the church’s women’s organizations.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ralph (Lillian) Nichols of Whittemore; six brothers, Melvin of Estherville, Robert of Armstrong, Byron of Chakio, Minn., Ray of Estherville, Walter of Cyrus, Minn., and Leslie of Sheridan, Ill.

The Rev. P. Lauritz Mork was to officiate at the services, with burial in the East Side Cemetery. The Reese-Henry Funeral Home of Estherville was in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 23, 1970)
