Funeral Services for Fred A. Thorndyke Held Yesterday
F.A. Thorndyke, who has been a resident of this city for thirty-eight years, passed away at his home on Sunday evening at the age of seventy-nine. Mr. Thorndyke has been in failing health for years but the end was not expected so soon. His last illness was only a couple of days duration.

Mr. Thorndyke was a highly respected man by all who knew him. Some years ago he was a neighbor of the writer and he was a gentleman and a fine neighbor and to us that is the best thing that can be said of any man.

Mr. Thorndyke is survived by his wife, one son, Wilbur, of this city and four daughters, Mrs. Fred Stone of Fort Dodge; Mrs. D. McCarty of New Orleans, La.; Mrs. Fred Himebauch of Estherville and Mrs. Roy Arnett of Moline, Ill.

The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Wilbur Thorndyke home, the Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer officiating. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 21, 1934)

Funeral services for F.A. Thorndyke, 79, who died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at his home on North Ninth street were held at 2:30 p.m. today at the home of his son, Wilbur, on South Tenth street. Burial was in the East Side cemetery. The Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer was in charge.

He is survived by his widow, four daughters, Mrs. Dale McCarty of New Orleans, La., Mrs. Fred Stone of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Roy Arnette of Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Fred Himebauch of Estherville, and one son, Wilbur, of Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 20 1934)
