Estherville – Services for Thomas P. Thornburg, 84, will be held Friday at the Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Koons officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 1984 at the Good Samaritan Center.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Thursday.

Thornburg was born May 19, 1899 at Pleasantville, Ia., the son of Charles and Barbara (Kubli) Thornburg. He attended Gruver and Superior schools. On June 4, 1930, he was united in marriage with Elma Michael at Estherville. The couple farmed in the Estherville and Ruthven area until 1950. He worked for the Oak Knoll Turkey Farm for 23 years. He was a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elva, Estherville; six sons, Dewaine, Lake Crystal, Minn., Merlyn and Donald, Estherville; Marvin, Terril, Richard, Mankato, Minn. and Ronald, Owatonna, Minn., two daughters, Darlene J. Anderson, Sioux Falls, S.D. and Kay Dobson, Novi, Mich.; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Inis Carey, Estherville and Mrs. Iva Kendall, Chariton; one brother, Emile Thornburg, Pleasantville. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one granddaughter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 25, 1984)
