Rites Thursday for Resident of Estherville
Mrs. Ernest (Linda) Thompson, 69, Estherville, died at 9 a.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital, after suffering a stroke earlier that morning.Mrs. Thompson was born May 7, 1899, at Guernsey, the daughter of Emil and Frieda Burke. She received her education in north Superior schools.
On Oct. 8, 1920, she was married to Ernest Thompson at Spirit Lake. They farmed near Jackson and moved to Estherville in 1940.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Harold of White Bear Lake, Minn., Howard of West Covina, Calif., and Lester of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Audrey) Muklebust of Oxnard, Calif., and Mrs. Edwin (Louise) Hemmer of Earlville; 16 grandchildren; two great granddaughters; a brother, Alfred Burke of Jackson; and four sisters, Mrs. Carl (Bertha) Meyer, Mrs. Laura Hivley, both of Williamsburg, Mrs. Frank (Hulda) Reed of Spirit Lake; and Mrs. Luella Schoon of Montgomery.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Rev. Walter Discher officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home all day Wednesday and until noon on Thursday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 11, 1969)
