Vernon Thompson Rites Saturday
Estherville – Vernon W. Thompson, 59, Estherville, passed away early Thursday [December 19, 1974] at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Funeral services have been set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Estherville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Harvey Throop officiating and burial in the East Side Cemetery.

He was born April 18, 1915 at Estherville to Henry W. and Carena Morris Thompson and was educated in the Estherville schools. He was a 1933 high school graduate and he attended Estherville Junior College for two years.

Mr. Thompson was married to Fern Mason June 10, 1939 at Estherville. He had been employed by an Estherville lumberyard, Estherville creamery and the U.S. Army before doing office work for AMP Inc. in Whittemore. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Larry, Wayzata, Minn.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Wilton, East Peoria, Ill.; Mervin, Fort Dodge; one sister, Mrs. Elvira Ericson, Fort Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
