Dale Taylor Dies Friday Morning – Ill Since January
Dale LeRoy Taylor, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Taylor of this city, died Friday [July 7, 1933] at 4:15 at the Coleman hospital. He was taken ill in January with tonsillitis and later inflammatory rheumatism developed.Dale Taylor was born March 10, 1912, in Gruver, the son of Jake Taylor and Livina Solmonson Taylor. He was confirmed in the Estherville Lutheran Church in 1926. He has attended the local school and was a student up to the time of his illness when he was compelled to quit. He took an active part in athletics and played with the high school and junior college teams.
The funeral was held Sunday at one-thirty at the house and two at the church. The church was filled with friends and classmates who came to pay their last respects. Pall bearers were members of the teams he played with while in the school. They were Sheldon Gordinier, Fred Elwood, Frederick Wilson, Ted and Richard Lee and Wilfred Reed. Honorary pall bearers were: LeRoy Aalborg, Francis Erickson, William Anderson, Roger Hugg, Kenneth Bixby, and Henry Hale.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Leslie Samp, of Newton, and two brothers, Orville and Evan. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 12, 1933)

Funeral Services Held Sunday Afternoon
Dale Taylor, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Taylor of Estherville passed away at 4:15 a.m. Friday at the Community hospital after an illness of several months. His death was caused by inflammatory rheumatism and heart trouble.Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the home and at 2:30 at the Lutheran church, the Rev. L.A. Mathre officiating. Burial was made in Oak Hill [per cemetery records East Side] cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sheldon Gordinier, Fred Elwood, Wilfred Reed, Robert and Theodore Lee and Frederick Wilson.
Dale LeRoy Taylor was born on March 10, 1912 at Gruver, Iowa, the son of Jake and Lavina Solmonson Taylor. In 1920 he came with his parents to Estherville. In 1926 he was confirmed in the Estherville Lutheran church. In January, 1933 he became ill, first with tonsillitis and then with inflammatory rheumatism which developed into heart trouble. He attended the high school for three years and took part in high school and college athletics. He was taken to the Community hospital Monday.
He is survived by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Leslie Samp of Algona, and two brothers, Evan and Orville. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 11, 1933)
