Lucille Peterson Smith
Estherville – Private family graveside services for Lucille Peterson Smith, 101, of Estherville will be held Monday, Sept.10, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. The Rev. James W. Stiles will officiate. Lucille die Sept. 5 at Rosewood Manor in Estherville.Lucille was born on Dec. 3, 1899 in Ottawa, Kans. She was adopted on Feb. 15, 1911 by Thomas and Addie King. She lived in Schaller, Iowa until the family moved to Canby, Minn. and later to Estherville.
On Oct. 10, 1926, she was united in marriage to Richard E. Peterson in Estherville. The couple farmed in Canby. To this union, one son, Richard Archie Peterson, was born.
Lucille was united in marriage to Thomas Franklin Smith on June 2, 1966. They lived in Estherville and later moved to the lakes area.
She attended the Christian Church and the Baptist Church. Lucille enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and was a member of the Soo Valley Club.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Jean Ann Hillary and husband, Dave of Sheldon; grandsons, Richard David Peterson of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and Thomas Wesley Peterson of Casa Grande, Ariz.; daughter-in-law Marianne Peterson of Casa Grande, Ariz.; great grandchildren John Hillary and Jill Hillary of Sheldon; Jennifer Keilman and husband, Chris of Everly; great-great granddaughter, Taylor Jae Hillary and great-great grandson, Keeston Charles Kielman.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard E. Peterson and Thomas F. Smith, one son, Richard Archie Peterson, one brother and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 10, 2001)
