Lester Smith Dies at 54
Lester Smith, 54, resident of Wallingford for nine years, died yesterday at 8 p.m. in Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Smith had cancer and had been in failing health for a year. He had been hospitalized for about a week.Born Jan.23, 1911, at Carstairs, Alberta, Can., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Smith. He received his education in the Deer River, Minn., and Lake Park schools.
He was married Oct. 25, 1946, to Nadine Walters at Jackson, Minn. The couple, after their marriage, lived for several years in the Lake Park and Spirit Lake areas, in Fort Dodge from 1950-1955 and for two years in Cedar Rapids. They moved to Wallingford in 1957 and since that time Mr. Smith had been employed by John Morrell & Co.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife; a daughter, Kay, at home; and a son, Jerry, at home. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Last rites are to be Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home, Rev. Lloyd Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Sunday until time of services Monday. The casket will not be opened after the service. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 6, 1966)
