Estherville – Bert S. [Smith] Swanson, 90, Estherville, died July 25 at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Estherville Lutheran church with Pastor Obert Rust officiating and burial at the East Side Cemetery.

Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements where friends may call anytime.

Mr. Swanson was born February 21, 1886 in Emmet County to Andrew and Mary Swanson and was educated in rural Emmet County schools. He was married to Ellen Carlson December 16, 1914 in Estherville and lived his whole life in the Estherville area. He farmed southwest of Estherville until he moved into Estherville in 1964. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen, Estherville; three sons, Kenneth Swanson, Estherville; Robert, Blue Grass; and Wilburn, Dolliver; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one grandson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 27, 1976)
