Mrs. Sunde, 37 Dies Suddenly
Funeral Services Will Be at Lutheran Church
After an illness of less than a week, Mrs. Andrew Sunde, 37, died early this morning from double pleurisy. She took sick last week and has been bedfast most of the time since then. Although her condition has been serious her death was a shock to her family and friends.

Funeral arrangements have not been made but it is understood that they will be at the Estherville Lutheran church and burial will be at the East Side cemetery.

Mrs. Sunde, who prior to her marriage was Miss Bergulot [Bergliot] Handeland, was born in Norway on Feb. 11, 1897 and came to this country when she was a child. On March 28, 1922 she was united in marriage to Andrew Sunde and to this union three children were born.

She is survived by her husband and three children, Donald, 12, Wilbur, 10 and Betty 5; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lars Handeland, four sisters, Manghild, Mrs. T. Belan, Jennie and Josephine, and five brothers, Reinhold, Andrew, Alfred, Berger and Lloyd. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 6, 1934)

Mother of Three Laid to Rest Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Andrew Sunde, 37, who died Thursday morning, were held at one thirty, Saturday afternoon at the home and at 2 o’clock at the Estherville Lutheran church. The Rev. L.A. Mathre officiated. A quartette comprised of Benora Shaw, Carola Mathre, Arnold Olson and Everett Shaw sang at the church service.

Pall bearers were A.T. Bringle, Irwin Nichols, Ralph McKay,Wallace Westbrook, Clarence Mathieson and Verne Tredway. Member of the Legion Auxiliary supervised the care of flowers. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Bergliot Oline Handeland was born at Fjeulberg, Norway, on Feb. 11, 1897, the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Handeland. At the age of seven she came to America with her parents, coming directly to Emmet county, where she has lived ever since.

On June 30, 1912, she was received into communicant membership with the Estherville Lutheran church. She was one of a class of 15 confirmed by the Rev. Akre that day. One third of the class have now died.

She was united in marriage on March 29, 1922 to Andrew Sunde. Three children have been born to them, Donald Vernon, 11, Wilbur Nolan, and Betty Darlene, 5.

Besides her husband and children, she is survived by her parents, five brothers, Reinholt, Andrew, Alfred, Berger and Lloyd, and four sisters, Manghild, Mrs. T.E. Belan, Jennie and Josephine. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 1, 1934)
