Marx [Mark] Stoffel Dies of Throat Infection Here
Marx Stoffel, 72, died Saturday [July 7, 1928] at a local hospital from a tonsil infection. He returned from Iowa City six weeks ago where he underwent an operation but he failed to regain his health and he was taken to the hospital here last week.Services were conducted Sunday by the Rev. Alva L. Ragsdale at the Christian church and burial was made in the East Side cemetery. He is survived by two children, Charles, of Estherville, and Mrs. Mary Kulp of Swea City, a brother, Thomas of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Sauchman, of Sardis, O.
Marx Stoffel was born Jan. 12, 1856, in Germany and settled in Ohio when twenty years old. He united with the Baptist church when a young man. October 24, 1884, he was married to Angeline Fulmer. One child preceded Mr. Stoffel in death. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, July 11, 1928)
