Leo Stoffel, 28, Dies Wednesday Morning at Local Hospital
Funeral services for Leo Stoffel, 28, who died Wednesday [April 8, 1942], will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stoffel home and at 2:30 p.m. in the Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. L.A. Mathre in charge. Interment will be in the Eastside cemetery.

Mr. Stoffel was taken to the hospital three weeks ago and had undergone two serious abdominal operations recently. A fall eight years ago was the ultimate cause of this death which occurred at 3:30 p.m. at the Coleman hospital.

He was born Nov. 2, 1913, in Estherville, the son of Charles and Jeddie Burdahl [Berdahl] Stoffel. Besides his parents he is survived by his wife, Helen; three brothers, Jack at home, Ellsworth of Oakland, Calif., a member of the army air corps, and Herman who is with the U.S. army in the Hawaiian Islands, and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Rogers of Spencer. Ellsworth arrived here Thursday morning to attend the funeral services. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 9, 1942)
