Lyle Stoddard, 66, Dies; Rites Will be Tuesday
Lyle Boyd Stoddard, 66, Estherville, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday [April 18, 1970] at Holy Family Hospital after a lingering illness.

He was born Jan. 21, 1904, at Cumberland, Wis., to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Stoddard. He was educate in Cumberland and Brendwood, Wis., schools. On Nov. 22, 1931, he married Kathryn Manthey at Estherville.

For two and one-half years after their marriage they lived at Gowrie. In1934, they moved to Estherville. He was a clerk for the Missouri and St. Louis Railroad until his retirement nine years ago. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Stoddard is survived by his wife, Kathryn, Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Roscoe (Marilyn) Waterman, Estherville, and Mrs. Martin (Barbara) Balmer of Ft. Davis, Canal Zone Panama; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Severson of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Justin Rogers of Spirit Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church, Estherville. The Rev. Dick Pearson will officiate. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home anytime today until 11 a.m. Tuesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 20, 1970)
