Harold Ford Steinmann Dies at 67
Harold Ford Steinmann, 67, longtime Estherville resident died at 6:10 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Steinmann had undergone surgery for lung cancer at Rochester – and had returned several times since then for treatment.

The son of Scott and M—Steinmann, Mr. Steinmann was born June 7, 1890 at Lee Center, Ill. He was --- , Nebr. and attended high school there. He then entered the School for Embalming in Omaha, Neb. and received his certificate from there.

After working for two years in a funeral parlor in Omaha, Mr. Steinmann was with his father’s funeral parlor in C—until his father’s death in 1912.

Mr. Steinmann came to Estherville in 1913 and was employed by the Rock Island lines here for – years as a yard clerk and baggage man. He then worked for the City of Estherville, retiring in June 19—due to his health. At that time he was hospitalized at Holy Family for a long time prior to medical care at Rochester.

He was a member of the Union Baptist Church.

He is survived by his widow, the former Flora Miller, to whom he was married Dec. 15, -- of Estherville; a daughter, Mrs.Francis (Lucille) Solmonson of Estherville; two sons, Harold of – and Scott of Minneapolis; a sister, Mrs. J.L. (Claudia) Tyler of Temple City, Calif.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Gary and Leslie Solmonson, Mark and Cynthia Steinmann, all of Estherville and LeAnn and Janet Steinmann, both of Minneapolis.

An infant sister preceded his death, in addition to his parents.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon --- Burial in East Side cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 3, 1957)

Out-of-town relatives here Monday to attend last rites for Harold Steinmann were Mr. and Mrs. Pete Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Paulzen and Mrs. Wert Potast, all of Worthington, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Scott Kayser, Jessie Sullivan, Mrs. Cornelia Eady, and John Miller, all of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Miller of Reading, Minn.; Mrs. Fred Hanson of Waseca, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Plute Ohetek of Lake Park; Hye Miller, Mrs. Anna Zeck and Tom Heidebrink, all of Little Rock, Iowa; and Mrs. John Origer of Spencer. Pallbearers for the service were Sidney Bishop, Lewis Sweet, Fred Fenrich, Herman Wiese, Robert Biery and Myrl Beaver. Honorary pallbearers were Martin Johnson, A.L. Lee, Glenn Story, Tracy Allen, Melvin Hockett and Ed Johnson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 8, 1957)
