Ralph Snyder, Sr.
Estherville – Services for Ralph Harnden Snyder, Sr., 86, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Danville Swanson officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites. He died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 1985 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville after 4 p.m. Friday.

He was born Dec. 20, 1898 in Sioux City, the son of William T. and Bertha C. (Olson) Snyder. After education in elementary schools, he attended the Western Electric Trade School in Chicago On June 5, 1922 he was united in marriage to Gertrude Wendte at Rockfield, Ill. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad in Manly and Atlantic before moving to Estherville in 1946. He was a member of Union Baptist Church and the North Star Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; two sons: Ralph Snyder Jr., Wichita, Kan., and Van Snyder, Atlantic; and one daughter, Mrs. Verle (Dorothy) Pierce of Estherville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister, one brother, one son, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 3, 1985)
