Estherville – Services for Robert Howard Young, 65, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Balm, officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with military graveside rites by V.F.W. Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91. He died Sunday, Jan. 7, 1990 at his home.Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
He was born July 17, 1924 at Colfax, Wash., the son of George and Margaret (Poplin) Young, and received his education in Sunnyslope and Carlton, Wash. schools, graduating from Twisp Wash. High School in 1942. He was a graduate of Wash. State University with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy in 1953. On Sept. 3, 1948 he married Flavia Goetz at Wenatchee, Wash. The couple lived in Washington area from 1954-1965 then moved to Iowa where they lived at Leon and Grinnell before moving to Estherville in 1969. He was employed as a pharmacist until 1989. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War Two and was stationed in England with the 457th Bombardment Group of the Eighth Air Force.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church; life member of V.F.W. Post 3388 in Estherville; Rotary and YMCA; and a member of the Pharmacy Association in Iowa and Washington.
Survivors include his wife Flavia, Estherville; two daughters, Bobbie Young, Storm Lake and Loretta Hubbard, Sanibel Island, Fla.; two grandchildren; two brothers; Albert, Englewood, Colo., and Bill, Kent, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 9, 1990)
