Selby Vandevanter Died at His Home on Monday
Selby Vandevanter, 53, died at his home on South Eighth Street Monday [September 11, 1933] afternoon. He has resided in Estherville for the past two and one-half years. Death was due to Bright’s Disease and a heart ailment.

Funeral services were held today from Mahlum and Anderson’s funeral chapel with Rev. W.A. WinterStein in charge. Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery. He is survived by his widow and one son. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 13, 1933)

Selby Edwin Vandevanter, 53, a resident of Estherville for the past 2 ½ years, died at his home on South Eighth street at 4:15 Monday afternoon. Mr. Vandevanter who was a retired farmer was born at Kahoka, Mo. He had been a sufferer for several years with Bright’s disease and a heart ailment.

Funeral services will be held from the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon at two o’clock with Rev. A.W. WinterStein officiating. Interment will be made in the East Side cemetery. The Odd Fellow lodge will be in charge of the last rites at the grave.

Mr. Vandevanter is survived by his widow and one son. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 12, 1933)
