Frieda Van Den Berg
Services for Mrs. William J. (Frieda) Van Den Berg, 72, Estherville, were held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Calvary Gospel Assembly Church there with Rev. David Ogren and Rev. R.W. Wuerch officiating.Interment was in East Side Cemetery.
She died Jan. 3, 1983, in a Sioux City nursing home.
Friends called at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services at the church.
Frieda Holmgren was born at Naper, Neb. Jan. 3, 1909, the daughter of Philipp and Elizabeth (Wetzler) Holmgren. She attended and graduated from the Naper schools.
Following high school graduation she attended and graduated from the Norfolk Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing.
On Feb. 14, 1935, she was united in marriage to William J. Van Den Berg in a country church west of Naper.
Following their marriage they moved to Estherville where she lived until poor health forced a move to the Casa de Paz in Sioux City in 1979.
She was a long time member of the Calvary Gospel Assembly Church.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and Henry Tordoff, Sioux City, formerly of Le Mars; one granddaughter, Marilyn Tordoff; one grandson William Tordoff, Le Mars; one sister Clara Stahlecker, Pocatello, Ida.; six brothers, Henry Holmgren, Naper, John Holmgren, Alexandria, Minn., Gustav, Rudolf and Albert Holmgren, Estherville, and Dr. Philip Holmgren, Kearney, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, Chris. (LeMars Daily Sentinel, LeMars, IA, January 7, 1983)
