Roland Schroeck
Estherville – Services for Roland Schroeck, 83, will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastors Kermit Rye and Michael Kroona officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery. Family and friends may call Monday from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Mr. Schroeck died Saturday, December 2, 1989 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Roland Albert Schroeck was born on April 1, 1906 to Charles and Bertha (Stern) Schroeck at Lamberton, Minn. He was educated in the New Ulm, Minn. schools. On February 27, 1935 he married Gladys Amdahl at Estherville. The family farmed in the Dolliver area for many years. In 1955 they moved to Estherville where Roland worked as a mechanic for several farm implement dealers while still doing custom farming in the Dolliver and Estherville areas. He retired at the age of 65. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife Gladys of Estherville; one son, Charles of Sanborn, Iowa; three daughters: Carol (Mrs. Larry S.) Hanson of Rochester, Minn., Joanne (Mrs. Jerry) Wittrock of Spirit Lake, and Janice Schroeck of Estherville; one brother, Gordon Schroeck of New Ulm, Minn.; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 4, 1989)
