Mabel Griffith Services Held Friday
Funeral services were conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Hartley for Mabel B. Griffith on Friday, July 4, 1975 at 10:30 a.m. Father Gerald Zeman officiated.

Casket bearers were Michael Ennis, Donald Byers, Dick Thorson, Elmer Byers, Terry Dodson and Gale Luedke.

The burial was at St. Patrick’s Cemetery at Estherville, Iowa.

Mabel Trenor, daughter of Bernard and Mary Trenor, was born in Sheldon, Iowa, June 6, 1895. She lived her youth, attended school and grew to young womanhood in this vicinity. She was united in marriage to Merl Griffith of Hartley on Dec. 3, 1913, at Hartley. They farmed north of Hartley until 1920 when they moved to Estherville. They moved to Spencer in 1936 and lived there until returning to Hartley in 1941 where they were engaged in the dry cleaning business. She lived there until entering the Lake Park Care Center on March 6, 1974, where she lived until the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband, Merl of the Lake Park Care Center; one daughter, Marie (Mrs. Merlyn Ennis) of Windom, Minnesota; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter, two brothers, and three sisters.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. On Jan. 20, 1972, Mabel was presented an honorary Lifetime Membership in the Harley Chamber of Commerce. (Hartley Sentinel, Hartley, IA, July 10, 1975)

Mrs. Mabel Griffith [nee Traenor from 1925 census] passed away at 6:27 Tuesday evening. We will miss her greatly and extend our sympathy to her family and loved ones. (Lake Park News, Lake Park, IA, July 10, 1975)
