Merl Griffith Services Wednesday
Merl Griffith, 82, former dry cleaning establishment operator, died July 20 in a Spirit Lake hospital.Services were at 10:30 a.m. July 23 at the Sanborn Funeral Home, Sanborn. The Rev. Paul Hansen of St. Andrews Methodist Church of Sanborn officiated. Burial was in St. Patrick Cemetery, Estherville.
Mr. Griffith was born Dec. 10, 1892 in Dysart, Iowa, and married Mabel Trenor of Sheldon Dec. 3, 1913. They farmed north of Hartley until 1936 when they moved to Spencer. They moved to Hartley in 1941 and began operating a dry cleaning establishment. He was a member of the Hartley Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Griffith died July 1, 1975.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Merlyn (Marie) Ennis of Windom, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Roy Kelly of Austin, Minn.; two brothers, Jess of Estherville and Art of Clayton, Wisc.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. (Hartley Sentinel, Hartley, IA, July 24, 1975)
