Spirit Lake – Walter Rogers, 75, of rural Spirit Lake, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, at his farm home.

Services for Mr. Rogers will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. James Harmon officiating. Burial will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of services.

Mr. Rogers was born July 16, 1901 to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Rogers, Dunlap, Ill. He received his education in Illinois grade schools, moving to the Estherville area in 1911, where he worked and lived on the Ben Roach family farm for 18 years. He lived with the Mervin Roach family for the last 33 years, remaining single all his life.

He is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rogers was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 6, 1977)
