Mrs. John Rogers Dies
Mrs. John Rogers, 84, longtime Estherville resident, died yesterday afternoon at the Community Hospital in Hartley. Death was attributed to a stroke.

Myrtle Byers was born Feb. 27, 1882, in Dunlap, Ill., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reid Byers. She received her education in Dunlap.

She was married to John Rogers in 1900 in Dunlap. They moved to Emmet County in 1910, where they farmed. After managing the Emmet County Farm for 10 years, the couple retired to Estherville.

Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Fideilas class.

She is survived by two sons, John Justin Rogers of Spirit Lake and Leslie R. Rogers of Hartley; one daughter, Mrs. Ben (Ruth) Roach of Estherville; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Rogers of Estherville and Mrs. Alice Harlan of Speer, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville, Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home from noon Sunday until noon Monday when the body will be moved to the church to lie in state until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 6, 1966)
