Services Held For Ralph Rogers
Funeral services for Ralph Otis Rogers, 79, Estherville, were held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Reese-Henry Chapel in Estherville with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating.

Mr. Rogers died on Saturday [August 8, 1970] at 1:05 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville from a stroke he suffered last Tuesday at his cottage on Lake Okoboji.

He was born Dec. 3, 1890 at Clermont to Mr. and Mrs. Henry B. Rogers and was educated in Clermont and Cedar Rapids.

On May 21, 1916, he was married to Minnie Kenyon at Spirit Lake. The couple lived in Spencer before coming to Estherville in 1924. He was employed by the Northwestern Bell Co. for over 42 years and retired in 1956.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Dilg League, Telephone Pioneers of America, Rotary, and United Methodist Church in Estherville.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie; two sons, Robert, Onawa and Orville, Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Marion) Gilbert, Davenport, Mrs. Maynard (Charlotte) Oleson, Armstrong, Mrs. Edward (Kathryn) Randall, Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; 20 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred A. Rogers, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister.

Burial was in the East Side Cemetery at Estherville.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Roger Calvin, Douglas Calvin, Donald Carlson, Jerry Crawford, Gary Oleson and Randall Rogers. Honorary pallbearers were Stanley Smith, Vincent Maloney, Gordon Sheltren, William Clark, Ova Omundson and Emmanuel Stavros. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 10, 1970)
