Estherville – Services for Don C. [Carroll] Roberts, Sr., 76, Estherville, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 14, at the Union Baptist Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Fred Glasser officiating. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery.

Mr. Roberts died Tuesday, April 11, at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

He was born June 29, 1901 in Plover to John and Jennie (Shaver) Roberts, and was educated in the Ayrshire and Osgood Schools. July 3, 1922 he married Edna Randall in Osgood. The couple moved to Estherville in 1925 where he worked as a custodian at the Emmet County Courthouse for five years. Later he worked for the Estherville school system as a custodian. He was with the school system for 30 years and was head custodian several of those years.

A member of the Union Baptist Church, he is survived by his wife, Edna, Estherville; five sons, Leonard, Estherville; Dale, East Moline, Ill., Don, Jr., Erie, Ill., Arlo, Geneseo, Ill., and Glen, Silvas, Ill.; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Crane, Dodge Center, Minn.; and two brothers, John Roberts, Kennewick, Wash., and Marlow Roberts, Minneapolis, Minn.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.

Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangement. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday, April 13, until the time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 13, 1978)
