Funeral services for Arnold Frederick Hockett, 89, of Estherville will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, with Pastor Lynn Potter officiating, at United Methodist Church in Estherville, Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. Arnold passed away Sunday, Jan 16, 2005, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
Arnold Frederick Hockett the son of Otha and Blanche (Houseman) Hockett was born February 6, 1915, in Welcome, Minn.
He attended schools in the Welcome and Estherville areas. On July 31, 1935, he was united in marriage to Margaret Brandt in Estherville. Following their marriage, the couple lived west of Estherville where Arnold was engaged in farming. Arnold was a hard worker and enjoyed working with horses. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Estherville.
Left to cherish Arnold's memory are his children, Donald Hockett and his wife, Arlene and Jean Blair and her husband, Tom all of Estherville; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters and he also helped raise his nephew, David Griese.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, granddaughter, sister, Arvilla Rouse and two brothers, Melvin and Delbert.
