Estherville – Services for Ben T. Roach, 87, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bob Kunz of the Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Monday morning, July 25, 1983 at the Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Tuesday and until time of services Wednesday.

Roach was born Jan. 12, 1896 [per cemetery records 1898] at Hannibal, Mo., the son of John and Rhoda Roach. He attended schools at Davenport, Fairfield and Gruver. He moved to Emmet County in 1908. On July 14, 1917 he was united in marriage with Ruth Jeannette Rogers in Emmet County. The couple farmed until his retirement in 1963 when they moved into Estherville.

Roach was a steward at the Emmet County Farm six years; schoolboard member six years and a member of the Knights of Pythias.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, Estherville; daughters: Mrs. Willis (Myrtle) Grems, Estherville, Mrs. Gene (Ellen) Moore, Wallingford and Mrs. Richard (Joan) Dahl, Estherville; two sons, Mervin J. Roach, Spirit Lake and Denny Leroy Roach, Joplin, Mo.; 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 25, 1983)
