Spirit Lake – Services for Pearl Louise Roach, 56, Spirit Lake, were held June 14 at the United Presbyterian Church, Spirit Lake, with the Rev. Leonard Phelps officiating. Interment was in East Side Cemetery, Estherville.

Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home, Spirit Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bell, she was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Dickinson County. She attended Spirit Lake Community Schools and was married to Mervin John Roach on July 10, 1942, at Jackson, Minn.

The couple farmed in Emmet and Dickinson County in the Superior area. She was a member of the Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Roach is survived by her husband, Melvin [Mervin]; three sons, Gary Roach and Mike Roach, both of Estherville, and Wade Roach, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Pat) Johnson, Estherville, and Mrs. Allen (Debora) Schroeder, Armstrong; and two sisters, Eva Hausmen, Spirit Lake, and Ila Woods, Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by one sister, three brothers and her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 15, 1979)
