Estherville – Ray M. [Merrel] Ridler, 94, Estherville, died Thursday [December 24, 1981] evening at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Presbyterian Church, Estherville, with the Rev. John Bowe officiating. Interment followed at the Eastside Cemetery. Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, was in charge of arrangements.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Ridler, he was born Oct. 28, 1887, at Cottage Hill in Dubuque County, Iowa. He attended school in Cottage Hill. He was married to Frieda Gleim Nov. 29, 1916, at Storm Lake. They farmed in Sac County until 1923, when they moved to the Estherville area, where they farmed until 1958, when they retired and moved into Estherville. He had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center for the past two years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Estherville.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Lola) Swanson, Estherville; two granddaughters; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 28, 1981)
