Howard Reed Dies; Double Rites Held
Double funeral services were held this afternoon at the Estherville Christian Church for Mr. and Mrs. Howard Reed. Mrs. Reed died suddenly in her sleep Sunday morning at Holy Family Hospital and Mr. Reedís death occurred last night at Cherokee. He has been in ill health for the past several weeks and underwent surgery at a hospital there some time ago. He had not been told of his wifeís death.
Mr. Reed, 60, was born June 16, 1900 and was married in 1922 to Mary Turner of this city. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Reed had sent most of their time in Estherville, having moved out of the state for short periods of time during the first few years of their marriage.
Mr. Reed was a machinist and welder by trade and had been employed by Hill Packing Company when the plant was in operation here.
Mr. and Mrs. Reed are survived by their daughter, Mrs. Dale (Patsy Jo) Juhl of Augusta, Ga. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 24, 1960)
