A Very Sad Death
The grief that has come to the hearts and home of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Collins of Ellsworth Township is felt deeply by many neighbors and friends. The death of their eighteen months old daughter has brought wounds which time can never heal. After five weeks of terrible suffering Baby Corene gave up the fight for life and passed to the great beyond at 9:15 Saturday morning, March 23d, a victim to the terrible meningitis. The parents did all they could for their little one but to no avail. She was born in Emmet Co., Sept. 10, 1905 [per cemetery records, Sept. 11] and her bright little spirit remained to bless this home but eighteen short months.
The funeral was held from the home Monday at ten o’clock, and was largely attended.
She was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The sympathy of all is extended to these dear friends in the hour of their affliction.
(Written in memory of Corine Collins)
Dear little lily bulb planted away
Deep in the earth one bright spring day
It grew and grew in the rain and shine
To be ready to celebrate Easter time.A dear little baby girl came one day
To gladden the home like a shining ray
But the Lord said, to those, to whom he had given
The dear little baby is wanted in Heaven. So he took her away on wings of white
To be where there’s no sorrow or night
To be with the loved ones forever to shine
In Heaven, to be happy at Easter time.Oh! Sad hearts who mourn over hopes that are deep
Remember the lily bulb planted last years
In its beautiful clothes all green and white
It has not come forth to meet the light. So the dear little baby is transplanted now
In the garden of God, and He’ll show us now
To live as we ought and meet Corine in heaven
For “Of such is the kingdom” the promise is given.
