Glen Pickens Dies Saturday
Glen C. Pickens, 81, Estherville, died Saturday, April 22, 1972, in Good Samaritan Center in Estherville of heart trouble.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Church of the Nazarene in Estherville. The Rev. Katherine Loutzenhiser and the Rev. Fredrick C. Borger will officiate. Burial will be made in East Side Cemetery.
Mr. Pickens was born May 12, 1890, in Sullivan, Mo., to Nathan and Mary Pickens. He was educated in Missouri and was married on June 26, 1915 in Fort Dodge to Estella Bradshaw.
After their marriage, they farmed south of Emmetsburg until 1922 and then moved to Estherville where he became a car inspector on the Rock Island Railroad, where he was employed 40 years. He retired in 1962. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
His wife died Jan. 4, 1961. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Irene) Lastine of Terril; two grandchildren, Mrs. Cheryl Tesdahl of Milford and Wesley Lastine of Ames; three great-grandchildren, and one brother, Jim Pickens of Missoula, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother and two sisters.
