Abraham Pickell
Funeral services for Abraham Pickell were held at the Dolliver Community church Thursday at 10 o’clock.Abraham Pickell was born January 25th, 1863 at Oshkosh, Wis. and died at the home of his son, Lewis at Hollandale, Minn., on Dec. 7, 1937. As a small boy he came with his parents to Chickasaw county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Ida J. Merriott on August 27, 1887. They resided there until 1891 when they moved to Dickinson county. In 1901 the family moved to Dolliver where they made their home for 31 years. To this union were born two sons, Lewis E. of Hollandale, Minn., and Lee M. who died in Nov. 1930. Mrs. John Westrem, an adopted daughter, resides in Estherville.
Besides his son, Lewis and adopted daughter, Mrs. Westerm Mr. Pickell is survived by 12 grandchildren, four brothers, Eugene Pickell, Gruver, Iowa; James Pickell, Superior, Wis.; Henry White of Rockwell, Ia., and Earl White of Rockwell; four sisters, Mrs. Etta Margan, Fredricksburg; Mrs. Nora Campbell, Ayrshire; Mrs. Jenny Zwanzingor, Waterloo, Ia., and Mrs. Gerty King, Joliet, Ill., and by a large circle of friends and neighbors.
Mr. Pickell became a member of the Methodist church in 1895 and lived a quiet and sincere Christian life. His love and care of his family as well as his kindness towards his many friends was sincere.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Pickell, Hollandale, Minn.; Mrs. Dorothy Pickell and son, Donald of Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Pickell of Superior, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. John Westrem of Estherville.
