Longtime Resident of County Dies
Phillip Bennett Peak, 77, a resident of Emmet county for over 60 years, died at 1:50 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Peak suffered a stroke March 25 while doing chores on his farm south of Swan Lake and was taken to the hospital.Mr. Peak was born April 21, 1877, near Manson as the son of George and Sarah Peak. He moved to Emmet county with his parents when he was 14 years old.
On Feb. 18, 1904, he married Mary Ross at Forest City and they made their home on a farm south of Swan Lake. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary there this year.
Surviving his death are his wife, a son, Phillip of Bloomington, In., daughters, Louisa of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Fred (Maggie) Hall of Armstrong and Mrs. Fred (Elizabeth) Haerlen of Elma, Wash.
Also surviving are a brother John of Alexander, N.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Baumann of Blue Earth, Minn., Edith and Elizabeth of Estherville; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Sandin funeral home, the Rev. Thomas G. Melton officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn [Side] cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Fred Krough, Ralph Krough, John Ullensvang, Gus Knutson, Wesley Jones and Lewis Aanonson.
