Simon Paulson, 89, Estherville, Dies; Rites Held
Simon Gunder Paulson, 89, Estherville, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday [April 10, 1970] at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

He was born Sept. 29, 1880, in Jack Creek Township to Mr. and Mrs. Gunder Paulson. He attended rural Emmet County Schools.

On Sept. 19, 1904, he was married to Bertha Nelson at Estherville. He had farmed all his life and retired to Estherville in 1943. He had made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hanson of Estherville, for the past 20 years.

He is a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Hilmar (Gladys) Larsen, Willard, Mo., Mrs. Oscar (Myrtle) Sunde, Estherville, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Hanson, Estherville, Mrs. Norman (Annie) England, Wallingford; two sons, Paul Paulson, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jerome Paulson, Perry; 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, one son, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were to be held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Rev. Stephen Englstad officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
