Margaret Kohlstedt

Funeral service was held for Margaret "Peg" Kohlstedt, age 87, on January 18, 1996 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake with Rev. Albert O. Grendler. The music was provided by Karen Arnold, organist, and Steve Gentry, cantor. Pallbearers were Bruce Bohns, Frank Homan, John Homan, T.J. Mannion, Timothy Mannion and Bruce Nelson.

Margaret A. Kohlstedt was born on May 7, 1908 to Albert and Ellen (Murphy) Baldwin at Cedar Rapids. She attended High School up to the 10th grade.

In 1924 she was united in marriage to Harley Clarie Kohlstedt in Estherville. The couple made their home in Terril, Estherville and Spirit Lake. Peg was a salesclerk for various retail stores for several years.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching and feeding birds.

Peg passed away on January 15, 1996 at her residence in Orleans.

Survivors are her two daughters, Mary Margaret of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kathi Mannion and her husbant, T.J. of Prior Lake, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary E. Holt of Orleans, and Harriet DeForde of Fullerton, Calif.; a brother, James Baldwin of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Helen.

Interment was in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Estherville with Turner Funeral Home of Spirit Lake in charge of arrangements. (Milford Mail Terril Record, Milford, IA, Jan. 25, 1996)
